Earlier this month, students from the Institute of Behavioral Research (IBR) SOAR Lab presented their work at TCU’s Student Research Symposium. They shared a range of projects and represented the lab well.
One student stood out, with Brooke Drenowatz, a senior psychology student, receiving the Psychology Senior Scholar Award, which is given to selected graduating students in the department.
Students presented research on behavioral health and public perception, including how language, media, and personal beliefs influence the way people think about risk, responsibility, and stigma. Some projects also looked at how online content shapes fear and decision-making, especially in everyday situations where people rely on what they see and hear.
Events like this give students a chance to present their work outside of class, explain their ideas, and get feedback from others, which helps them sharpen their thinking and build experience before moving into graduate programs or research roles, and this group did exactly that.
Overall, the symposium showed the range of work SOAR Lab students are involved in and the direction many of them are heading after graduation.
